Today, we observe our planet and our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. At Electrozad, we understand our actions have an environmental impact. We strive towards adopting more sustainable practices, reducing waste, and supporting our customers and communities transition towards more environmentally friendly practices.
Our Diversity and Inclusion committee is responsible for discussing important initiatives, such as more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable practices, and setting necessary change in motion. Leading up to Earth Day, our discussions focused on pressing environmental issues such as sustainable energy, waste reduction, and how Electrozad can continue adopting greener practices.
Electrozad offers compostable counter bags at all of our locations. We transitioned to a compostable material two years ago to reduce the amount of single-use plastics that sit in our landfills or end up in our great lakes. This small change helps to reduce our carbon footprint and contributes to a cleaner environment for all. With the recent ban on single-use plastics, we will be slowly phasing these bags out in favour of a reusable option that makes sense for our customers and our planet.
We also have a lighting recycling program to dispose of old light bulbs and fixtures properly. This program ensures that these items do not end up in landfills, where they can emit harmful chemicals into the environment. By doing so, we reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the conservation of valuable resources.
"We do a lot of small things in the warehouse where we recycle any used ballasts, batteries, scrap metal, " states Braden, a warehouse associate and member of our Diversity and Inclusion committee, "and these small steps are really what makes a difference because it all adds up to less waste." We welcome our communities to bring their end-of-life fixtures and lightbulbs into any of our 5 locations, where we will ensure they are disposed of properly and safely.
Electrozad stocks electrical vehicle chargers for home use and has knowledgeable staff to help transition to EV charging in your home. We want to encourage the use of electric vehicles, which produce fewer emissions than traditional vehicles, and recognize that proper electrical infrastructure and installation are essential when it comes to EV adoption. Electric vehicles help reduce the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere and total air pollution.
Electrozad is also proud to offer lighting and energy audits that support our customers in adopting more efficient operations. Our lighting consultants evaluate how much energy your current lighting system consumes, then summarizes the energy savings you could realize with more energy-efficient options. This service allows us to work closely with our customers and ensures we are all taking action toward reducing energy consumption.
Finally, we are proud to partner with electrical and automation manufacturers and associations that have pledged to reduce their waste, increase their use of renewable or recycled materials, and implement more efficient production operations. By working with our vendors, we can create accountability and develop standards for sustainability within the electrical and automation industries.
